Is it “lazy blogging for dollars” day on StumbleUpon or what

I cannot begin to describe exactly how much this site and those like it piss me off.

Here’s how it works. You write an article. You submit it for their approval. A blogger too lazy to write his own shit then browses the directory, takes your content, puts it on his ad-covered Google-buzzword-filled trainwreck of a blog, sits back, and lets the ad revenue roll in. How much of it do you see? How much does this site pay you for the work you did? Nothing.

Gotta love the links to free ringtone sites, crappy search pages, and MySpace layout generators all over the site, too. Very professional, there. And call it a hunch, but I have a feeling they didn’t exactly ask Microsoft for permission to use the Word and Publisher icons there.

If any of you have ever contributed anything to these fuckheads and it has led to recognition and eventual paid work, say something and I’ll go fix myself a nice steaming bowl of crow and foot stew. Otherwise, I repeat: if you are too lazy to write your own damn content, you have no business making money off your blog. Unless you’re passing most of it on to the people who wrote your content for you. You’re still an idiot, but at least you recognize who’s actually doing the work there.

If this article is to be believed, the latest trend in the blogging-for-dollars camp is computer-aided plagiarism.

If you see nothing wrong with this, GET THE FUCK OUT.

There’s no “gray area” about it. Copying someone else’s article, changing a few words whether with “softwares” or your brain, putting your name on it, and making money off it (none of which goes to the person who did the hard work you ripped off) is not cool, ever, period, full stop, end of sentence.
